Luckily the welcome at Glashütte Original warmed us up. GLASHUTTE ORIGINAL Marcus Hanke had kindly set up a product presentation by Dr Frank Mueller the new managing director for GO. The small group gathered in anticipation to see the very, very nice new GOs:
![]() The Panomatic Tourbillon, is GO's first automatic tourbillon. The absolutely gorgeous automatic movement which is a pleasure to behold: micro rotor, Glashutte stripes, blued screws etc... and the dial ain't that bad either with a very impressive flying tourbillon.

![]() The third novelty is the PanoMatik Lunar that features big date and moonphase. I often say that GO has the most beautiful moonphase display since the moon looks somewhat 3 dimensional and this model confirms my sayings.

![]() GO also let in some light on the models to be released next year or the year after and all I can say is that they will surprise the world!!! That evening GO had organised a dinner party at one of Basel's best restaurants where the whole gang met up for a delicious meal and conversed about the meaning of life, death and the use of the double swan neck regulating systems. :) Dr Mueller on the left and Marcus on the right:
![]() But before that Magnus Bosse had organised a presentation of the new Jaquet Droz products by Mr Emch the company's managing director. JAQUET DROZ Here is a brand that used to make really boring watches until they came out with their Grande Secondes model. Inspired by a pocket watch design, the seconds subdial is prominently placed and sized. The new models will all be based on this new design.

![]() I find these pieces very exciting due to the bold design even though I find the 43mm case of the Grande Secondes a bit too much. Day 2 started off with a visit to The British Masters which no longer are 3 since Tompion has been put to rest for a few years until Graham and Arnold & Son find their brand image. THE BRITISH MASTERS The booth was decorated as a British club with leather sofas, wood works and an excellent selection of pure malts on a bar. The watches were brought to us on a tray and we were left alone to play with them and to take pictures! Mr. Florent the company's VP then joined us to present the novelties. For Graham the main selection was around the Chronofighter: for those who have not seen it in the flesh it is a stunning watch not only because of the very original chronograph push piece mechanism but also due to the case and dial design. The first time I had seen this watch it occurred to me that it would be something Batman would wear! On the wrist however I find it very macho! I like it!

![]() The new Aeroflyback is set with 3 telemetric scales in order to precisely calculate the distance between an audible and visible event. The temperature outside has an effect on the speed of sound we were told and thus with a temperature scale on the dial graduated for 30°, 15° and -10° Celsius timing can be more precise!
![]() The third novelty was the Oxford model, a very elegant rectangular curvex model with elongated flanks and lugs which made me greatly think of the Rolex Prince Brancard.
![]()
![]() Arnold & Son had one new model out this year: The Longitude II, greatly inspired by sea travel. This large watch has a dial in the middle which makes one complete turn every 24 hours, this dial displays a representation of the earth as seen from the Pole Star, by directing the hour hand towards the sun, the wearer determines the average north-south axis for the wearer's time zone, it can also serve as a second time zone indicator.
![]()
![]() The back of the watch is fitted with a hinged back, of which the inside cover is engraved with an equation of time calculator which permits you to calculate the difference between average time and solar time.
