DANIEL ROTH

Some interesting pieces with the classic Daniel Roth case. It looks like the Bulgari group wants to make this brand into tomorrow's high horological player.

Instant perpetual calendar:

Tourbillon with retrograde date and power reserve display on the back:

Perpetual calendar chronograph (limited edition):

Chronograph with El Primero movement (limited edition):

Diamond encrusted 8 day tourbillon:

A very elegant moonphase, date and power reserve:

BREGUET

As I said before, in 2003 every one had their alarm watch and Breguet was introducing a new model with the same movement as BP but presented in a watch with a very bold dial design and the watch sounded much better than its brother from BP.

The second novelty is a 2-counter, split-seconds chronograph. A true beauty, even more since the ugly push piece at ten which can be found in the previous model has been replaced by a pusher on the crown, giving the watch a much more elegant look and much more in line with Breguet's prestige.

The tonneau shaped Heritage was introduced with a big date feature, it looks good but its just another "me too" watch with not much personality.

The watch with my favourite design was the last one we saw, it features a retrograde seconds display at 6 and a power reserve indicator at 12, very attractive dial and when I told Emmanuel Breguet that the watch had a somewhat George Daniels look to it he gave me an evil look!!!

For those with cash :) :

As usual we were running late and had to get to Geneva in time for the traditional Lange dinner.

The 2003 Basel fair was not one of the best. It seemed like every one had decided on bringing out tourbillons and alarm watches, but then again we can't have a WOW year each time and the Harry Winston Opus 3 and the Ulysse Nardin Sonata really raised the level of the fair.
