The movement - almost reassembled

The restoration work: A Master Watchmaker for a masterpiece

Reflecting on the task of restoring this masterpiece, Thomas Prescher said the following, "The initial condition of the watch was much worse than expected. Opening with inappropriate tools had damaged the case. All of the screws, golden bridges, the escape wheel and all tourbillon parts were scratched by using inappropriate "tools," as well. There was also far more parts than expected, finally filling three baskets."

The restoration work was mainly done in three parts:
First, examining the condition and the work to be done. This requires complete disassembly of the watch and the movement up to the very last screw, followed by a meticulous inspection of the condition.
Second, restore/repair the movement and case as required, including the fabrication of necessary parts.
Third, clean, assemble and regulate the watch.

The inspection reveals a variety of damages, mostly caused by poor service by an incompetent repairer in the past (starting at this point, the German language original text by Thomas Prescher will be included):
